How Much Does a Concrete Driveway Cost in Florida?

National cost guides put a plain concrete driveway at about $5 to $12 per square foot installed in 2026. The average two-car driveway in the U.S. is 16 by 40 feet, or 640 square feet. At those rates, that driveway costs about $3,200 to $7,680. If an old driveway has to come out first, tear-out adds about $1 to $6 per square foot.

What Does a Concrete Driveway Cost per Square Foot?

Cost guides price a driveway by the square foot, with labor and materials included. Each one prices a slightly different job, so the ranges differ. The price figures in this guide were published between December 2025 and September 2026.

The estimator assumes an easy site and a job of 500 square feet or less. Its figure leaves out digging, base rock, compaction and tear-out. Decorative work such as stamping or color runs $8 to $21 per square foot in the industry guide. We pour plain broom-finish concrete, so this guide uses the plain range of about $5 to $12.

How Much Does a One-Car, Two-Car or Rural Driveway Cost?

The industry guide’s method is simple: multiply your square footage by a local price per square foot. The table below applies the plain range of $5 to $12 to common sizes.

A home-services marketplace says one-car driveways are usually 9 to 12 feet wide and two-car driveways 16 to 24 feet. A long drive on rural land is where concrete adds up. On acreage, a limerock drive with a short concrete apron at the road costs far less.

What Makes One Concrete Driveway Cost More Than Another?

Thickness is a big factor. Four inches is the usual minimum for cars and SUVs. Going from 4 to 5 inches adds about 20 percent to the concrete cost, per industry guidance. It also adds nearly 50 percent more load capacity, which matters for an RV or a heavy trailer.

Steel adds cost too. One online cost estimator prices welded wire mesh at $0.83 to $0.98 per square foot. Industry guidance calls for rebar in slabs 5 inches or thicker, which adds material and labor.

The site moves the price as well. A landscaping cost guide puts driveway grading at $100 to $3,400. Stumps and soft spots have to come out before the base is compacted. Curves and odd shapes also take more labor and material than a plain rectangle.

What Does It Cost to Replace an Old Driveway?

Replacing a driveway means paying for two jobs: tearing out the old slab and pouring the new one. National cost guides put tear-out at about $1 to $6 per square foot, and disposal can cost extra. A home-services marketplace says most concrete removal jobs cost $640 to $2,087.

For the 640-square-foot driveway above, tear-out adds about $640 to $3,840 before the new pour. Old slabs with steel inside take longer to break up and can cost more to dump. The old slab is broken out and hauled off as part of our demolition and concrete removal work. Then the base is compacted again before new forms go in.

What Makes a Florida Driveway Cost More or Less?

Cost guides say prices vary by location, partly because local labor costs differ. Cement masons and concrete finishers in the Ocala metro earned an average of $22.96 an hour in 2025. That compares with $25.26 statewide and $28.87 nationally, per federal wage data. Wages are only one part of the price, but they help explain why local quotes can differ from national averages.

The ground under the slab matters too. Much of Marion County is deep sand over limestone. Candler sand, a soil first described in Marion County, runs 80 inches or more deep. Sand drains fast, but it has to be compacted evenly to carry a slab.

The Florida Geological Survey lists rotting stumps and poorly compacted soil among the causes of ground settling. That is why a wooded lot can need more prep before the pour.

Rain is the other local factor. Ocala averages 51.64 inches a year, and more than half falls from June through September. Industry guidance calls for a slope of at least 1/8 inch per foot, away from the house.

What Does Marion County Require Where the Driveway Meets the Road?

A new driveway that connects to a county road needs a driveway connection permit from Marion County. Inside Ocala city limits, the City of Ocala has its own driveway permit. Where a driveway crosses the county right-of-way, the county’s detail calls for 6 inches of reinforced concrete. The City of Ocala also calls for 6-inch concrete in the driveway approaches it permits.

Six inches is thicker than a typical 4-inch driveway, so the apron at the road costs more per square foot. If the road has a swale, the county may call for a culvert under the driveway. The pipe is 15 inches at minimum, and the county sets the size at its field inspection. Roads posted 40 mph or more also need a poured mitered end section on the culvert.

A limerock driveway can tie into a paved county road too. The county’s detail then calls for a paved apron that runs to 1 foot past the property line. Past that point, the drive can stay limerock.

Is Concrete, Pavers or Limerock the Better Value?

Concrete sits in the middle on price. It costs more than limerock up front and about half as much as pavers.
